Introduction
After being hospitalised in 2016 for Anorexia Nervosa and Clinical Depression, Sophia’s journey towards recovery has been one of great difficulty. Despite this, Sophia shares her story in the hope that she can help other young people struggling with their mental health. She is open and honest about her own difficulties, defying cultural stereotypes and ferociously tackling the stigma against mental health.

Sophia has spoken at various different events about her passion for mental health. From national conferences to targeted workshops, Sophia is an engaging and enthusiastic speaker whose words have the power to inspire others. Sophia challenges the mindsets of others and encourages them to step outside of their comfort zones, spreading her positive message of healing, self-growth and self-discovery.
Community Work
Sophia is a member of the Think 4 Brum Youthboard, which gives young people the power to influence decisions made by Birmingham’s youth mental health service, Forward Thinking Birmingham. Alongside her fellow members, Sophia has helped promote #TeenTalk, a pioneering program which challenges professionals through simulated roleplays to reflect on their clinical interactions with young people. In addition, Sophia is also a Foodbank Volunteer.
